Lenten Rose – Suejee’s Garden- A renaissance mood in spring flowers

This is also known as Helleborus or Lenten Rose or Winter Rose.  The violet, purple or white blooms can begin in December and be prolific all the way into March.  My plants tend to be very generous in large glossy palm like leaves.  I generally cut all the leaves so that the flowers can be the star of the garden.  In this photo the flowers were at the height of bloom in early spring and the combination with the delicate blue flowera of Brunnera Macrophylla ”Jack Frost” adds to the effect of a Renaissance Canvas.
